You will see and hear many ads claiming that they can speed up your system and remove spyware and viruses remotely; in our experience once the computer is infected with spyware and trojans there is no way they can be removed fully through remote connection or software installation. It takes us between 4 to six hours to fully remove all trojans and spyware, most of which is done manually and then scans with 4 differrent software. There is no one software out there that catches and removes everything. In some cases where the computer is infected very badly we end up having to backup and format and reload!
We suggest that you leave your Desktop Computers on all the time so that windows can do the updates and the security software can run scans and updates.
Make Sure you have adequate security Software and that they are always up to date before you go on the internet or download emails.
If security alerts pop up on your screen telling you that you are infected severley with trojans and viruses and to download an update or a software from them to remove it, just turn off your PC and have it professionally checked for trojans. These messages will look official and most of them will ask for your credit card to purchase the software. Under no cicumstace should you give your credit card details as you will see big fraudulent charges on your account within a couple of hours!!
The surest way to protect yourself against Thunder Storm damage is to turn off all your devices and unplug them from the power, telephone and or cable connection. Basically cut off the system from connection to the outside world!!
